Friends of the Blackwood
Friends of the Blackwood is a not-for -profit community organization working to address local environmental issues of water pollution, salinity, riparian weeds, erosion, litter, bio diversity and traditional Indigenous knowledge in the Nannup region of the Blackwood catchment.
In 2014 The Nannup Garden Village received funding to develop a ‘living sculpture,’ in the centre of the Cultural, Tourism & Heritage precinct of Nannup.
Funded by the Department of Culture and the Arts, and Community Arts Network WA, its location is also the main location for festivals and events held regularly in town.
Well known, local artist Lewis Horne was the Artistic Director for the living sculpture, accompanied by Rod Laws and many community members who helped with the consultation and construction. The ‘Living Sculpture’ was officially opened as part of the 2015 Nannup Flower & Garden Festival by Mr Robin Mellema.

Artisans Garden Project
Funded by support from Friends of the South West & Keep Australia Beautiful, the Artisans Garden project is one that commences with the young people of Nannup. It aims to engage them in creative garden based activities throughout the year using recycle items and learning sustainable practices from local gardening experts. It culminates with the development of a showgarden, which will be displayed at the 2016 festival.
